The Center of Ukraine is beginning to noticeably lack champignon. Mushroom growers of the Western region intend to bring the mushroom to the Southern and Central regions. In the south of Ukraine, meanwhile, the price of champignon began to rise. In the Eastern region, the price of mushroom has risen a little more.
In the Central region of Ukraine, there was a noticeable shortage of mushroom. At the moment, champignon is still enough to satisfy demand within the region. Meanwhile, mushroom producers in the Kiev region continue to receive a lot of calls from buyers from other regions. In this segment of trade, demand far exceeds supply. As a result, the price of the fungus for all sales channels continues to grow. The cost of mushroom in the wholesale markets of Kiev Stolichny and Troeschina rose by an average of 1.0 hryvnia. As predicted, the cost of mushrooms for supermarkets has increased. In the regions, champignon from farms is also sold on average by 1.0 hryvnia more expensive.
The low price and demand for champignon, which was established this week in the West of Ukraine, pushed the region’s mushroom producers to decisive measures. An employee of the Rio-Plus company Vladimir Ivanchin commented on the situation: “In connection with the current situation in our region, when the demand and price for our products are consistently low, we came to the conclusion that we are ready to try to sell the grown mushroom in those regions where the price is much higher than ours. Now we are starting to negotiate with representatives of the South and Central region on this matter. ”.
Meanwhile, in the south of Ukraine the price of champignon for all sales channels began to rise. Today, supermarkets buy mushrooms at prices 2.0 hryvnia higher than yesterday. The cost of champignon for wholesale has also increased. Mushroom growers are generally satisfied with the current level of sales, but note that, most likely, a good price for champignon in the region will last no longer than before the end of the first week of February. By that time, they said, a significant amount of mushroom should appear in the region as a whole, which will saturate the market.
The cost of champignon rises in the Eastern region of Ukraine. The change in price affected both the cost of the mushroom for supermarkets and for wholesale. In general, according to market participants, in the coming days in the east of Ukraine we can expect a further increase in prices. Such forecasts, according to mushroom producers, are associated with an unfavorable situation on the roads of the region, which is likely to prevent the arrival of mushroom from the center of Ukraine to the local markets. In this regard, the current level of demand will be satisfied solely due to the own supply of mushroom producers in the region, which is currently slightly lower than the level of demand.
